we can't say easy to do this work but there is little things which you can learn before you starting to learn because these things are not easy to learn by this type if you are beginners also i will gives you some required theory to check this things and those things are as follows:

1. Introduction to Basic Electronic Components
2. Special SMD Components like capacitors,coils,resistors,Diodes,Transistors,Mosfet(Digital),Regulator ics .
3. Introduction to Microprocessor  
4. Introduction to Logic Gates (important)
5.   It is better if you have knowledge of tracing  DC supply circuits .
6. It doesn't mind if you don't have knowledge of AC to DC supply because laptop and desktop motherboard only require DC supply.

Note: Desktop runs highest +12volt DC and Laptop Runs highest +18.5v,+19.0v,19.5v,20.0v and maximum amphere of laptop is 4.5Ah which is labels on your power adapters.
